Cascade de yikpa .waterfalls in togo .

Kpalime is a 4hrs drive from Lome , Lome is the capital of Togo which means if you are coming from lagos, Nigeria like me you will have to pass through Lome to get to Kpalime .

Lome to Kpalime will cost you 3500fcfa and Kplaime to yikpa will take you 2hrs drive on bumpy road and another 90mins hike which total 3hrs hike and 4hrs drive from Kpalime .

The fee that you will be charged is totally dependent on your negotiation skill , but to have an idea you won't be spending less than 20,000fcfa to get to the waterfall and back to kplaime especially if you do not know your way around and trust me you need someone that knows the trail to go with. It is wise to negotiate your return trip since you may not get any other way of going back .And yes transportation is that expensive in Togo.

The waterfall entrance is 2000fcfa per person , there is neither an office or a resting place nor a covered place as other places where tickets are issued ,especially if you are a frequent waterfall chaser but ,the old man issuing the ticket is always there and will notice you the moment you arrive.

The waterfall? Was it worth it ? I have chased over twenty waterfalls in my over three decades on earth and if there is something I can tell you is that cascade de yikpa is the most beautiful, tallest and gushing waterfall I've ever set my eyes on . So much so that taking pictures and video seems difficult since the waterfall drops will not allow a clear picture to come out so we have to constantly be cleaning the camera to clear the dews .

This is a full day trip , so do not plan on doing any other thing whenever you plan on visiting, so that you can enjoy the waterfall fully. Remember you will be hiking for 3hrs to and fro so you will want to equip yourself with good hiking shoes or a very gripping trainers , remember to collect the stick before hiking , you will need it when ascending , you will be descending to the waterfall but getting to the waterfall is not the hardest , it is coming back up You are advised to go with snacks , drinks or anything that you know will boost your energy after the hike , you will definitely need it.
