How to get to Owu waterfall from Lagos

CHASING OWU FALLS 

Perhaps you've been seeing post that shows the tallest waterfall in Nigeria named Owu waterfall and you've been wondering how to get there , then this post is for you .

Coming from Lagos and you don't know anywhere, worry not I will take you to the waterfall here and now .

TRANSPORTATION 

There is a straight bus from Oshodi or Ojota bus park to Ilorin that cost #3500 or you get to Berger and board a bus going to Ibadan at a very cheaper rate of #800 which will drop you at iwo road when you get to iwo road at exactly where the signboard of iwo road is , there is a bus going to ilorin #1500 per person , cheap right ? As against the #3500 at the bus park ...well those are the perks of travelling alone because you can always maneuver your way especially if you are an impatience person like me that doesn't like sitting at the park waiting for other passengers to come .

Your destination is ilorin ,so you have no business alighting until you get to the last bus stop which is refer to as general ,and that is because the moment you raise you eyes and you can sight the filling station General hospital is adjacent.

Now at the bus stop walk 10 steps to the front and take a bike /taxi to Offa garage bike will charge you #200 and taxi #100 but if you are too tired to take that 10 steps you may have to pay double the price because park cabs and bikes charges higher . When you get to offa garage you will see a mosque"Shehu ibrahim sulu Gambari jummat mosque exactly opposite the bus park with the Image below , you should be rest assured that you are on the right track

You are boarding Omu-Aran cab and that cost #800 it was on a Sunday though,so I don't know if that's the normal price on a weekday . Tell the driver you are alighting at Oke-Onigbin junction, He should drop you at this place.

When you get to Oke onigbin look up to the road ahead and walk straight into it , DO NOT TAKE A BIKE unless you get to the bike park even if you have coconut head and choose to , the park association will not allow your bike to go , so in other to avoid unneccessary delay go straight to the park where you will see most of the bike men in their light blue jacket  and tell them you are going to Owu fall.

Be advised : even if you drove to Oke onigbin with your private car, look for where to park your car/bus and take a bike to the fall , E get why . 

HOW MUCH IS BIKE TO OWU FALL 

They have a standard price and that is #3000 per person and #5000 for two people for a return trip, that is because they already but you know you are probably going to spend the whole day over there so don't let them hurry you ,  so i kind of reason with them ,but you know that if you have a good negotiating skill in this Nigeria you can get what you want, this is not the time to form big girl if not you will spend all your money on bike alone ,my friend and i end up spending #4000 for our return trip which wasn't all that bad .

NOW YOUR ADVENTURE BEGINS 

The moment you are on Isara road , you are a step away from the waterfall , you will see a lot of Isin on the road , that is isara isin , Oke isin , isle isin , breast isin , boobs isin e.tc. the moment you sight Owu isin sign post anywhere you should know that waterfall already knows you are coming .

When you get to the sign board below 

You need to make a stop , it's a kind of rule /norms there to pay homages so they can assign a tour guide to you , I live to break rules though so I didn't do any of that but you may not be lucky and your head may not be coconut ish enough . Like we didn't do any of those , so we neither pay nor have an idea if there is any amount to be paid to them. But I knew we were at the place because there is a kind of barricade on the road which we pass anyways .then we saw the welcome to Owu sign board

You see that 7km you see is exactly that ,now imagine having to drive on a rocky , dusty and bad road for 4km ? Yes you heard right because once it's almost 3km ahead you will have to park your car and hike all the way . 

Path to Owu falls 

Despite being on a bike , there are times that we had to come down from the bike so that the bike can go alone and we do 2mins or 3mins hike so as to avoid story that touch, such hike happened 5 times in total so if you think being on a bike will totally avoid you hiking , you don't know nothing .

And just incase you end up going with your car ,this is where you have to park and continue on a 42mins hike to the waterfall, even if your car can fly ,you cannot move pass this point . So be ready to hike .

SIMILARITIES IN WATERFALLS 

BUILDING :If you are a frequent waterfall chaser , then you should know that for every waterfall that the state has recognized, they are always either just building a, or the building would have been in existence even though they don't use it for anything .
STEPS: Either manmade or nature made ,another common thing you will find while chasing waterfalls are steps either the one that will lead you to the fall or the one that will lead you out or both , but in Owu case it's by the side adorned with rusted irons that was in form of chairs, like that of university classrooms, but while you are inhaling to catch your breath after the hike,sitting on the yellow turn brownish chairs ,you can see the waterfall staring at you in the face and beckoning to you saying welcome and welldone my child for you I am here for you.
Now you can swim as much ad you want and trace your steps back home , and if you go with your car , happy hiking back to your car .
